Etmaal van de communicatiewetenschap
THE ETMAAL VAN DE COMMUNICATIEWETENSCHAP (24 Hours of Communication Sciences) is an annual conference organised under the patronage of NeFCA, the Netherlands Flanders Communication Association, which brings together communication scholars from Flanders, the Netherlands and beyond. The objective is to exchange research findings and discuss emerging topics.
The theme of the 2015 conference is THE INTERDISCIPLINARY TURN IN COMMUNICATION SCIENCES. Communication sciences has gained enough maturity and self-confidence to embrace other disciplines in tackling issues. On the one hand, typical communication sciences subjects such as ‘media effects’ can no longer be understood without insights from (developmental and social) psychology, educational science and neuroscience. Conversely, in today’s mediated world, important societal challenges including health and wellbeing, climate action, privacy, democracy, protection of minors and minorities, require an interdisciplinary approach and must, by necessity, include communication sciences. As such, interdisciplinarity seems a self-evident topic of this conference.
Starting from the strengths and knowledge basis of communication sciences, we aim to exchange conceptual ideas, methodological challenges and other experiences relating to conducting interdisciplinary research.
